A NEXT GENERATION DOCUMENTARY!
"Marvins Place" is the first part of a documentary film series in which Julian B. and Marc S., two film students, monitor the lives of young city residents with their camera over a long stretch of time and record their attitudes towards relationships, career, loneliness, God and the world.
The first part centers mainly around the student of business administration, Marvin, a good-hearted student coming from a humble background and his relationship with his flatmate Denise.
Marvin fights for the affection of his emotional flatmate and at the same time tries to find his place among his fellow students. A task which is not always easy in a cold, and superficial environment. With each new intimate interview, the film crew finds it increasingly harder to keep the professional distance while witnessing Marvin’s painful attempts to gain a small amount of happiness.
At film school, Julian and Marc are taught the principle of non-interference and just recording what you see. But life outside is more complicated. In the end they have to make a decision.
Will it be a professional one or a human one?
“Marvins Place” is a subtle, intimate character study and an attempt to newly interpret the relationship between the person in front of a camera and those behind it.
A film pleading for authenticity, openness and the need to overcome borders.
